Eligibility

The following are the eligibility requirements for work study.

  • In order to be employed on campus a student must always be enrolled at least half-time (six credits) during the fall and/or spring semesters.
  • Completed the FAFSA or Dream Act application and be awarded work study funds on your award notification in eServices.
  • No financial aid suspension holds

Summer term exceptions:

  • In order to be employed on campus during the summer, a student must be enrolled in at least six summer credits or six fall credits. If a student is not enrolled in six summer credits but is enrolled in six fall credits, their eligibility will be dependent on what is left from the previous fall and spring term.

  • Summer work study is split into two different sessions. The first session starts from the end of spring semester through June 30, and the second session starts July 1. In order for the student employee to continue, they must have completed their FAFSA or Dream Act application for the new academic year, be awarded work-study funds, and be approved to work by the work-study coordinator.

Application process

Getting a work study award does not guarantee a job or that you will earn the full amount. If you have a work study award and want to apply for a job, follow the steps below.

  1. To apply, follow the application directions noted in the job posting.
  2. If hired, complete the Work Study Authorization form sent by the supervisor and return the signed W4 and I9 forms and proof of identification to the Financial Aid Office.
  3. Wait for an email from the Work Study Coordinator to confirm your eligibility prior to starting the job. Allow 7-10 business days for approval.
